Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's family moved to Louisiana in the age of 9. Decker then won a local talent competition for her performance of "I Would Like to Be the Sweetheart of a Cowboy" performed by Patsy Montana. Decker's family moved from Louisiana into Georgia in summer 1995. Once she began writing, she made frequent visits to Nashville as well as visited music studios and record labels with the hopes of finding a contract. The songs she wrote were offered to record labels and other artists by an agent from Big Yellow Dog Records agent when she was 17. When Mercury Records president David Massey was introduced to Decker's work, he passed the songs on to L.A. Reid head of the associated Island/Def Jam label group and Reid agreed to sign her up for a record deal. Jessie James' first album entitled Jessie James and released in August 2009, was her self-titled debut. Decker had to work hard to get control of the music she released after the two prior singles weren't popular.
